Spine is quite damaged. Torn all along back seam so that back cover is unattached, with fraying to head and tail. Bumped corners, slightly frayed. Foxing to first 5 or so pages, and last 2 pages.

No dust jacket. Green illustrated cloth covers in firm condition displaying wear and staining, with a discoloured and edge worn spine. A preliminary page has come loose. No place or date of publication indicated, although the ”Preface is dated 1947

1897. First Edition. Original red cloth, cover is worn with water staining spots.Binding is loose and advertising pages are discoloured. The first book devoted to South African sports, and a mine of information relating to late 19th century activity in the sports covered.
