The fair was very well attended. Thank you to those who came and we hope a good time was had by all.

2009 is the bicentenary of Charles Darwin’s birthday and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his seminal work , 'On the Origin of Species'. It was first published in 1859 and only 1250 true first editions were printed. They sell for between R400 000.00 and R1 million.

Unfortunately we do not have a copy at the moment, though we are always looking!
Any books by Darwin and on his theories are particularly sought after at the moment, and are becoming increasingly hard to find.

Darwin after Darwin

We have the 3 volume set, ‘Darwin and After Darwin’ by George John Romanes.Originally published 1892 – 87, our 3volume set consists of a 3rd impression, 1905, a new edition 1900 and a first edition 1897. A very interesting set of early discussion and development of Darwin’s theory.

Darwin after Darwin

The author, over the period from 1888 to 1890 presented a series of lectures on “The Philosophy of Natural History” at Edinburgh University. His course was entitled “Before and After Darwin”, dealing mostly with organic evolution, these lectures formed the basis for this work.
