Those who have visited our Stellenbosch shop will recall our “book” staircase. After so much positive comment on the book wallpaper on the staircase we have decided to produce and sell the wallpaper. It comes in 5 different styles, boxed with glue and instructions.

George William Pilkington was to some extent self-taught but studied for a short period at the Michaelis School in Cape Town. From an early stage he was associated with marine paintings at the Cape. It became a Cape custom to include a picture by Pilkington in every presentation made to a visiting ships Captain. (Star 15th May 1937)

In 1936 his oil “Wet Towage” was hung at the Royal Academy. He was commissioned to paint marine subjects for the WW II War Art Record.

The copy of Nelson Mandela’s “Illustrated Long Walk to Freedom” has an impeccable provenance coming from the library of the Lindbergh Foundation.

It is one of only 425 copies signed and dated by Nelson Mandela. It is hand bound in red cloth and goatskin and contained in a custom–made clam shell case.
