Dr Davies presents information about sharks, complete with colour and black & white photographs. Green tape marks on endpaper, and previous owners inscription. Bumped corner and top edge. Slight wearing at edges of dust jacket, scuffing and water stain on back cover.

Binding is firm but worn, with some discolouration to the spine. Tropical worm damage,this consists mainly of small holes, about 8 to a page with about 1-2 mm diameter, they have the apperance of small ink spots. Cloth binding with embossed title.
With 1980 Supplement (1966-1980). Ink inscription on front fep. Lower edges of boards have small area of water/insect (?) damage. DW sunned on spine, chips at top edge.

Recently rebound in black buckram with gilt titles to the spine and new end papers. The new binding is not sympathetic to the age of the book but has had the benefit of preserving the contents very well. Contemporary owner’s name to the title page and some notes to the back fep dated June 1816.

Contains black-and-white and colour photographs. Boards show some wear, especially along the edges. DW shows losses to the top and bottom of spine and various closed tears with general wear.
Binding is in poor condition. Both boards are off and bundles are loose. A good candidate for re-binding. Ink note to the blank pg after the index, on the origin of the word mews. Two names to the paste down fep. Page edges untrimmed. All pages of the book are however in good condition.
