On front cover and title page: 1873-1973. Tape marks on front and back endpapers. DW has creases along sides of spine. Top and bottom edges of dw spine slightly trimmed.

Very well illustrated. Text in German.

Binding is firm but worn, with some discolouration to the spine. Tropical worm damage,this consists mainly of small holes, about 8 to a page with about 1-2 mm diameter, they have the apperance of small ink spots. Cloth binding with embossed title.

With 1980 Supplement (1966-1980). Ink inscription on front fep. Lower edges of boards have small area of water/insect (?) damage. DW sunned on spine, chips at top edge.

Ex-library copy with large ownership stamps on front and back endpapers and on p 305. Further stamp on title page and on lower fore edges of pages. Ink inscription on half-title page, front fep removed. DW scuffed and torn at spine.

Inscribed and signed by author on front flyleaf. DW price clipped. DW faded at spine and folds, chipped along top edge.

Small cloth spine with paperboards. Slight discolouration and scuff marks to boards. Charming illustrations on every page. Sporadic foxing , mostly to endpapers.
