No dust jacket. Blue cloth covers in good condition displaying minor edge wear and staining, with an edge worn and sunned spine. No publication date indicated, generally presumed 1943.

Text is clean and clear. Pages are age toned. Contains numerous black and white photographs. Boards show little wear. DW shows general wear, scuffing and closed tears along the edges. Significant closed tear to the back of DW.

Originally published 1861. Number 495 of a limited edition of 510 copies. One neat library stamp on verso of title page. Green on top fore edges slightly faded.

Ex-library. Binding slightly shaken. This book gives a epitome of the culture of all the kinds generally grown in gardens in this country, together with their common or popular names.

Recently rebound in black buckram with gilt titles to the spine and new end papers. The new binding is not sympathetic to the age of the book but has had the benefit of preserving the contents very well. Contemporary owner’s name to the title page and some notes to the back fep dated June 1816.
