Tape marks to the title page where binding has split. One plate is loose. A semi-historic story of life at the Cape of Good Hope from 1836 to 1848.
Book has slight wear to edges and corners of boards. DW has small chips and creases to top and bottom edges, and scuffing to folds. Top edge of dw spine repaired on inside with pasted on paper.
Front cover stained. Otherwise text clean and unmarked
A near fine copy in a price clipped dust jacket.
Ex-library copy with stamps on front endpapers only. Page 89 repaired with adhesive tape. Boards marked and edge worn with chipping at top and bottom of spine.
Fishmothing to cover. Sunned spine. Some foxing.

Binding is firm but worn, with some discolouration to the spine. Tropical worm damage,this consists mainly of small holes, about 8 to a page with about 1-2 mm diameter, they have the apperance of small ink spots. Cloth binding with embossed title.
