Earth Dances signed by Ted Hughes

For this collaborative project R.J. Lloyd picked several poems by Ted Hughes (1930-1998) on the subject of landscapes. Ted Hughes also wrote the poem ‘Epigraph’ especially for this edition. The linocut illustrations are meant to evoke the moorland country which inspired both artists in much of their work. Ted Hughes is recognised as one of the greatest poets of the twentieth-century. His work is deeply informed by his interest in myth and legend, as well as the rural English countryside where he spent his childhood and the later part of his life. Published by The Old Stile Press, limited to 250 copies. This is number 4, signed by Hughes and Lloyd. Bound using 160gsm Rivoli paper, the main images were printed on papers handmade by Frances McDowall (they are also used on the covers) which incorporate iris, nettle, onion, Japanese knotweed ,pampas grass and alkanet fibres. Presented in an orange cloth slipcase with copperplate block prints to back and front.
